One of the challenges of being a parent is to engender warmth and closeness, while maintaining a healthy parent-child relationship. This course emphasizes the fact that children want a parent who is an authority figure, and yet is able to have a close relationship with them. Sometimes it’s confusing for parents to know how to combine closeness and authority. This course is designed to help parents increase their awareness of the importance of treating their teenagers as children who require clear age-appropriate boundaries with parents versus treating their children as surrogate friends, confidants or peers.

This course is geared toward the adolescent age group, however the methodologies can be applied to children of all ages.
